On Saturday i was attending a concert with Kyuss (Lives) at Rockefeller in Oslo.
Rockefeller is well known for their strictness when it comes to photography, video and audio recording done by the concert audience. Long time ago before mobile phones i remember being thrown out a couple of times for recording live shows with my Mini-Disc player. There was no camera small enough and good enough to even try shoot a photo. Video – forget it.
How times has changed. Oh… Rockefeller still got “No photo, video or audio recording” printed on their tickets, but I think they’ve resigned. On Saturday’s Kyuss Lives concert i think each and every one of the 1800+ audience took at least one photo using their mobile phone and tweeted or shared their experience on facebook. A lot was also recording video. I taped the opening sequence and the first song with my iPhone 4. I am a bit impressed by both the audio and video quality. On Tuesday I’m going to a Fu Manchu concert and see if i can create an equally good quality video.
Social media and mobile technology has totally changed how I attend concerts and events. Tweeting about it while I’m there, sharing photos through Facebook and video, recorded and uploaded to YouTube directly from the phone while it’s happening.
Why bother to try and stop it? Just a waste of time and energy.
In October 2011 I left my job as Chief Mobility Consultant at Creuna Norway and founded my own company Appaloosa AS.
I received MSFT MVP for Device Application Development in June 2010 and are interested in mobility trends, the market, technology, software development for Windows Phone, iOS and Android mostly, but not exclusively. Scrum master that fights to keep it lean.
I like very much testing new things, hardware and software. If you have a product you think would be interesting to my readers and would like me to test and share my opinion about it please, use the contact page or twitter to
get in touch with me. I also have a norwegian blog about these same topics that can be found at http://mobilteknolog.no.
I am almost always available for questions and comments on twitter as @AlexanderViken
