Shhhh – don’t say a word…

Damn. After reviewing my blog posts that talks about the Android platform i’ve noticed that I haven’t had much positive or good to say about it.  I decided to try and balance it a bit because there IS good things about the platform as well, therefor i decided that my next post that mention Android should be positive, looking at the good sides of Android. Sadly I just couldn’t do it… Oh, I am writing on an article about the good things, but i didn’t manage to get it done before the next “flaw”.

Computerworld ran an article yesterday about “Soundminer” an Android trojan that researchers have developed as a proof-of-concept low-profile trojan horse. It monitors phone calls and records when a person speaks. It could be triggered start recording when the unaware user speaks certain words like their credit card number. It can also record touch tone sounds.

The research has been done by Roman Schlegel at the city university of Hong Kong and Kehuan Zhang, Xiaoyong Zhou, Mehool Intwala, Apu Kapadia and XiaoFeng Wang at Indiana University Bloomington and can be downloaded from here. There’s also a video on YouTube that describes how Soundminer works.
