A year ago two 19 year old Norwegians, Waleed Ahmed and Flemming Bordoy got the idea to create a solar power charger for the iPhone. Now a year later they are ready to take on the world with their new invention.
The product is not unique, but has two unique features, they can charge the phone below the light of fluorescent lamps and you carry with you an extra battery for your phone. They are able to charge an empty iPhone that is placed below a fluorescent light source in 6 hours.
For the product, they’ve been collaborating with Norwegian telecom company Telenor on product design, prices, marketing and distribution and now has an distribution agreement through whole of the Telenor distribution chain. Telenor has ordered 100 of the chargers for a trial so it’ll be exiting to see how they’ll do. What looks like an gold deal comes from Future Communications Company (FCC Kuwait) that has ordered 10 000 of the chargers for distribution in their 300 shops. According to Aftenposten they also has a standing order of 35 000 chargers to be sent to Kuwait.
